The problems here are legion
First, the decor looks terribly uninviting, uncomfortable.....
The dishes are merely anticipated and not fulfilled......

You should save money and fly to Montreal and see the the Cora's chain of restaurants...
Cora's is a breakfast, lunch only restaurant, open 7 am to 3 pm everyday...It has a creative menu and is always filled.....
eg...eggs,bacon,sausage,toast,pancakes, fruit, omelets, fruit filled, apple filled folded over pancakes, in a comfortable environment.....,..
There are 4 dozen Coras in Canada and growing well....

It is the least we can do. They don't have it here in Australia - all the war memorials take place on ANZAC day here. It's odd having a Remembrance Sunday with no remembrance. Just goes to show how much a part of British life it really is.

I think it's a generally accepted principle that it's very difficult to appreciate something that one has cooked oneself. It's not just performance anxiety or being too close to it, but something to do with how our taste-buds are desensitised during the preparation and cooking.

For what it's worth, it looks delicious!
So much so that I'm gonna ask for the recipe (if it's not a fiercely guarded family secret).

I have to agree that cooking for others can be extremely stressful, even when it's those close to you who should love you even if you serve up charred remains of scorched wildeveest. As many of our friends have pretty conservative tastes and I love to experiment in the kitchen, even when it turns out perfectly, I am always hanging on their every word or the way the look at the plate before tasting what I serve up.

The best advice is just serve it up and relax. But I'm lousy at taking my own advice.

I'd be intrigued to know if Little Chef were to let standards slip in their Popham restaurant, like they did after Heston's original programmes, whether or not customers would still flock there because they'd seen it on telly.

A few of my thoughts on the TV show are here: http://poursomegravyonme.co.uk/2009/11/07/stuff-i-watched-29th-oct-3rd-nov-2009/

As long as what you tweet is the truth, you can't go too far wrong, but I always try to remember never to tweet anything that would upset my granny. Twitter is a democracy, and if you don't like something then unfollow. There are plenty of good tweeters out there, and tonight's moral maze missed the whole point of twitter. I also think that there is no point in covering up something that is wrong, and if your boss doesn't like it then tough. He or she would then be able to challenge your view and between you the matter can be put right? Like the quiz?
I think a poor programme has done a lot of good tonight, because it has got us thinking 'why we use twitter' and why those who don't use it don't get IT.

I agree with you, the press should stay away now, things like this happen all the time and they go unnoticed. its petty to be frank that they dont have anything better to write about.
Thing is though, its not really to do with the fact that it was 'his right' its just common sense that you dont say something that could hurt someone esles feelings...
