Central London bikers protest against ‘parking tax’

September 22, 2010

Bikers made a noisy but seemingly polite protest in central London today against changes to Westminster Council’s parking charges for motorcycles and scooters introduced in January 2010.

Members of the Metropolitan Police were out in force maintaining a discreet distance during what appeared to be a good natured example of affirmative action organised by the action group No To The Bike Parking Tax. Aside from the cacophany of perky horns and revved engines tooted by the bikers, traffic seemed no different from any normal day at Trafalgar Square.
