Holiday: Sitges

September 22, 2010

Our taxi driver on the way back to Barcelona airport ranked nearby Catalan town Villanova a much nicer holiday destination than the more touristy Sitges. Had we received this information earlier during our trip we could have avoided Sitges altogether.

Considerably more attractive than the surrounding areas of our hotel, Sitges seemed to comprise narrow streets populated with near trendy shops, a wide selection of cafes and restaurants and a few pretty sights in the old town. But the beach seems a bit too hemmed in for my liking. And whilst the following promotional video doesn’t mislead, personal experience confirms Sitges doesn’t necessarily live up to the hype.
